SPONSOR A VET!!

MONTANA WARRIORS ON THE WATER VETERAN SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Montana Warriors On The Water (MWOTW) now offers individuals, companies, or organizations the opportunity to directly sponsor a veteran for one of our annual fishing or hunting trips. A $3,000.00 sponsorship donation will cover one veteran for such costs as: air and vehicle travel expenses, lodging, food, amenities, and other expenses that are associated with our various trips. Every veteran that attends any of our trips does so at no expense to themselves and these sponsorships will help MWOTW bring more veterans into Montana for an experience like no other.

Sponsors will receive photos of the veteran attending their trip, MWOTW swag, a personal thank you from the sponsored veteran and, if desired, recognition on our social media platforms. At times, other sponsorship benefits may be available on an individual basis.

WHO ARE WE?

MWOTW is a Miles City, MT based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a goal of providing free trips to US veterans to give them a chance to relax, meet other veterans from across the country who may be combat wounded or suffering from issues associated with the psychological effects of war, and to experience the thanks and gratitude of all the many volunteers that help us conduct these trips. Our goal is to ensure our veterans continue to have physical access to the country they served, in a mentally and emotionally stable environment, and are honored for their commitment and service to this nation. We at MWOTW are mission orient-ed in our objective to honor and support our nation’s veterans.

MWOTW is led by an all-volunteer Board of Directors that feature members who are dedicated to our motto of “Giving Back To Those Who Have Given So Much”. We also have an Advisory Board that features many long-time volunteers that strive to make sure our trips and events are the best they can be. MWOTW is enormously proud that both our Boards have multiple veterans on them, and several are former trip participants that not only returned at their own expense to help with a subsequent trip, but now are involved on a full-time basis with this organization. MWOTW also is blessed to have a large network of volunteers that donate their time, finances, vehicles, boats, campers, along with their talents and services to provide each selected veteran with an experience like no other. Our corps of volunteers also boasts many veterans who use their unique experiences of their own military service to make these trips even more worthwhile and meaningful for the participants.

Montana Warriors On The Water Trips

MWOTW has been providing free trips to veterans since 2015. Through 2022, we have hosted over 150 men and women veterans on our various experiences including many Vietnam era veterans. These trips are open to any US veteran. Our mission is to offer all veterans a chance to apply, regardless of if they were injured or not.

Each trip has its own application process that entails any interested veteran filling out an extensive application detailing their verifiable military career and other pertinent information. We give them the opportunity to share as much as they are comfortable with as far as their family, health history and issues, their expectations, and their history of participation in other trips of this nature. All applications are shared with our Board Of Directors along with any members of our Advisory Board that are veterans. All those board members are asked to submit their top choices based on their own personal criteria. The final voting results are tabulated by combining the voting members’ choices into a ranked list. These are tough decisions that must be made, and we take no joy in having to tell many of the applicants that they were not chosen. With these rips being free of charge to all applicants, we get many applications each time and we simply cannot accommodate more than our funds, facilities, etc. can take care of at any one time. These veterans’ sponsorships will help us in expanding our mission of taking more veterans on these trips.

Our most prominent trip is a weeklong fishing trip we offer each July on Fort Peck Lake called the “Fort Peck Tour”. We take 15-18 veterans on this all-expense paid trip. The trip starts with the first night in Miles City, MT for a low-key dinner to help everyone meet each other. The next day we leave for the Hell Creek Marina N of Jordan, MT to spend 4 days there and them we move across the lake to the Fort Peck Marina S of Glasgow, MT for 2 days. During all this time, the veterans are treated to some of the best fishing Montana has to offer. Each day they go out with a different volunteer boat captain that donates their time, boat, fishing equipment, fishing knowledge and experience to make sure each veteran gets a chance at the multiple species of fish in a world renown fishery. The days are also filled with some amazing volunteer people and groups that provide some of the best meals one could hope for. The evenings are spent with various games, campfire comradery and a little tomfoolery at times! While at the Fort Peck Marina, we have a major fundraising event on Saturday night that features veteran fishing awards, live music, silent and live auctions along with multiple raffles. On Sunday, we have to say our goodbyes and the veterans start their journey home.

Another one of our favorite trips is a Cow Elk Hunt that is held every December in the Big Timber, MT area. We host 4-6 veterans on a donated ranch lease and spend our time pursuing cow elk and wild turkeys. We prioritize veterans that have never harvested an elk in their life and are proud to say that the vast majority of the selected vets have been successful.

We have also offered many other smaller trips such as pheasant hunts, Purple Heart bull elk hunts, antelope hunts, deer hunts, etc. We have had landowners offer their land to us for hunts but sometimes, simply do not have the funding to take advantage of their generous offers. These sponsorships will allow us to expand our horizons a bit.
